My First Cushion Ta Dah

I finished my first cushion! A simple granny square affair using 'join as you go' I used the yarn I bought in Berlin last July, so it's a nice souvenir.

Sadly C isn't convinced still, but it's found its way onto the sofa and he doesn't seem to object too much ;) My next goal is to keep it away from cat claws...

The only thing I'm not happy with is the button arrangement. I just used an assortment of odd buttons and as you can see they're not very evenly spaced. My only excuse is that I was exhausted and couldn't be bothered to rectify the situation! Maybe one day in the future.

So I feel some cushion mania coming on, it's a very satisfying project! They might have to be gifts for now though...

  1. It's a lovely cushion cover. Well done! The button arrangement looks fine. You can't see them when the cushion is upright so no need to redo anything! A really great first cushion! X

  3. I think it's lovely - and I don't really love "pastel" colours, so it must be really beautiful for me to like it! : ) I think the button work well on it, too! I've only made a cushion so far, but I'd like to make another someday, you're right, they're satisfying projects!
Wish you a nice weekend! xx

  5. It's really pretty! I made a few myself including a ripple cushion and a round one. I ended up realising they were too bright for my taste as I used the Attic 24 palette which I love, but which isn't actually 'me', and moved them on, but the making part was fun! X

    1. Thanks Lil! It's hard to know what the final effect is going to be isn't it. These are slightly girlier than my usual colour palette, which seems to be blue-based, and whilst I like the final effect poor C isn't' so convinced! x

  8. Very cute! My bf isn't too fond of crochet cushions either but he has accepted the blankets on the couch, so I reckon it is a good start :P

    1. Thanks Anne! That's an excellent start :) I am a bit wary of blankets on the sofa because the cats always seem to pull them with their claws, but maybe I should try a few :)

  12. It looks very cute. Congratulations for your first granny cushion!!! I don't think the buttons look odd at all. Sometimes it's exactly the imperfection what makes something stand out. And besides it is your first pillow, your own work.
